Isn't this neat?
My idea here was to create an organic creature whose diet was rich enough in mineral deposits that it would actually grow a shell of rock around its body.
It seemed to me that such a shell would gradually be chipped and ablated away, especially around the joints, and so there ought to be plenty of wear and tear. It further occurred to me that, like many rock faces, it might end up getting little plants growing in those chips and cracks, as dirt and water and seeds found themselves nestled in there. The result is something which looks somewhat like a living statue, which I quite like.
